Legacy Marine is situated in the city of Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape
Province of South Africa.

Our boatyard is situated close to two main harbours (Ngqura and Port
Elizabeth harbour) and river (Swartkops). Sea Trials are conducted at
one of these venues depending on the size of the vessel.

Standards & Classification

  • All smaller Legacy Marine vessels are built to a minimum of SAMSA standards and he larger vessels to one of the IACS class society classifications.
  • Our coded aluminium welders weld to AWS structural or ASME IX procedures depending on the work being carried out.
  • Weld quality is monitored by our own inhouse QC together with third party Dye Pen and X-Ray analysis of welds where required.
  • All electrical works are designed and built to ABYC standards unless otherwise specified by the Class society.
  • Reputable class leading OEM equipment, fittings and fixtures are used on our vessels unless alternatives are specified by the client.

Capacity

  • Our production hall has a floor area of 2000m2 with a 7500m2 lay-up area.
  • We have the space and resources to build vessels of up to 25m in length with a beam of 10m. For larger vessels, premises are available in the Coega IDZ which can be hired for the duration of the build.
  • We have a dedicated team of permanent shipbuilders and hire in project welder or outfitters as the demand requires. Multiple shifts can be run to accelerate build programs.

Equipment

  • Cutting facility - CNC Router with 6 x 2m bed.
  • Welding Machines - 16 MIG and 6 TIG Sets.
  • Entire range of bending, cutting and metal working equipment.
  • 3rd Party bending and cutting facilities are also available as demand increases.
